Something as Simple as Your Breath...
"What I've come to understand is that some of the most beautiful experiences
we can have are felt, not seen".
~Rebecca Rosen,
Unconsciously you learn at a young age to hold your breath to avoid feeling your sensations and emotions.
You are taught to operate and think by doing.
And you may believe that by doing it will make the process easier but it does the exact opposite.
This behavior causes the body to shut off from healing and prevents the release of stagnant energy from the system.
Remember stagnant and stuck energy leads to pain and disease
You’ve probably heard me say nervous system work is an important part of the healing process in past emails
But do you remember why?
Your nervous system constantly sends messages about everything it interacts with inside and outside your body.
It is a complex network that connects and communicates with all your organs, bones, muscles, and immune cells.
And that’s a lot of work!
Research has also shown that the nervous system, immune system, hormone system, and stress levels are all connected.
And the busy world you live in requires your nervous system to handle more information and constant stress than at any other time in history.
Your system as a whole can only do one thing either fight off pathogens, virus, stress, dangers, etc.
OR
Work on healing and rebalancing your system
No wonder the nervous system can go haywire sometimes. It never gets break
Many people with Chronic Pain and Disease have dysregulated nervous systems.
Here are a few possible symptoms of an unbalanced nervous system:
Unable to relax and let go of things
Difficulty sleeping
Trouble with concentration
Trouble handling change
Feels wired after too much activity
Sensitive to lights or sounds
Can't tolerate supplements
Reactions to foods
Reactions to things that doesn’t bother others, like smells
Startling easily
Weak or very strong gag reflex
And many more
Why does it matter?
Your nervous system needs balance to work well and help your body to heal.
When your nervous system becomes dysregulated, it has a hard time switching from a sympathetic state (fight, flight, or freeze) to a parasympathetic state (rest, digest, and heal).
And they can’t both be turned on at the same time. Your body has to choose one or the other
If your sympathetic nervous system is stuck on all the time, it can't rest and heal.
So, what do you do?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to calm your nervous system.
Each person is different, there is no one size fits all t-shirt here.
But there is one you can practice anytime without going anywhere or learning a new skill....
